Forced inland, the Gulls fell out of sight,
weary boned and sucked into the night.
Forced back home to where we met our bounds,
Stitching hems and wishing thens were now-
we are where we are.
A thousand mirrors bouncing off the walls,
dragging heels and waiting for the call.
Sun spills gushing soft and out of bounds,
idle hands and empty stands resound-
we are where we are.
We've got each each other,
we've got each other-
and that's all we've got.

Hi all- not done anything under this whole Weikie name for a while, huh? Though unusual circumstances call for unusual times- so I thought I'd make a charity single about it, to help Musicians whose lives have been so deeply affected by the covid 19 lockdown policies. I've decided the best way to do this is through the PRS members fund.
justgiving.com/prsformusic
All profits from the bandcamp sale will go into this fund, and hopefully give musicians who rely so heavily on the festivals and tours of the Summer months, a little relief in what must be an incredibly trying time.
Most working creatives I know live right on the edge of their finances- there's no savings or back up plan, just a will and a drive and to create. And in this time of locked down netflix, spotify, playlists and ever sprawling days, the importance of art and creative media has never been more obvious. Culture, I'd argue, is one of this country's greatest exports, and aspects of it are under a genuine threat of disheartened disbandment. So please, if you can, give a little to help the artists of tomorrow the chance to create, and survive, today.
I'd like to give a HUGE thanks to my Covid choir- a collection of incredibly talented people who answered my call to record some vocals at home. This single is made entirely in my little spare bedroom studio, and with not being able to assemble a group of people under lockdown restrictions, getting the perfect crowd vocal seemed near impossible. However, with the help of some of the best singers I know, we managed to assemble something better than I could ever have a imagined. This, coupled with Ben Weedon's stunning violin playing, reminded me how lucky I am to know so many great people and musicians.
Take care, be safe, wash your hands, and look out for each other (from two meters away)
